NICC works with Indigenous leaders to guarantee carbon projects will benefit the community and create opportunity for local Tribes.

Benefiting the Community

By maintaining forest and recreational opportunities the project contributes to tourism, an important resource to the local economy, while providing new revenue streams and ensuring sustainable forest management.

The Fond du Lac Band is the steward of thousands of acres of pristine woodlands in Minnesota.

Managing Pristine Forests

The project will generate significant environmental benefits including carbon sequestration, habitat protection for wildlife, trees, and plant species, water quality protection, and reduced soil erosion.

Expert foresters will work with Indigenous communities to ensure improved forest management throughout the carbon project.

Creating Climate Impact

The Fond du Lac Band recognizes what climate change may mean for their way of life and are committed to taking action to slow or reverse the warming trends. Traditional ecological knowledge shows climate change is occurring in the area.
